Crossing over on dry land... again!

Israel had been here before, 40 yrs before at the Red Sea... Why again?
3:7 says it would show everyonethat the Lord was with Joshua. Do you think Joshua was a little nervous to see God come through when the priests first put their feet in the water? "Sure, God did it for Moses, but will He do it for me?"
3:10 says that it was for all God's people, that "you shall know that the living God is among you" and will give you victory. I wan't to know more of that victory and awe of that comes with a greater confidence of the power and presence of the living God.........
My feet want that dry ground!

God asks His people to trust Him in circumstances that seem impossible. How much faith did it take to step into that river? How many times has God nudged ME towards something that looks too big, too hard, too scary? And how many times have I pretended I didn't feel that nudge.
Yet, He doesn't give up on me. He continues to nudge. And to say "trust me".

Sure the enemy must have been out there like he was 40-years earlier, planting evil thoughts in the minds of those involved to think twice and question what God was doing. Joshua knew better and was determined to follow God regardless. Perhaps that’s why God wanted the Arc far ahead - so the Israelites (over half a mile v.4) so they could not see all the details of what was going and not let them try to second guess or get ahead of God’s plan. Sometimes, I find myself trying to get ahead of what God is doing or try to work out a more logical approach in my own mind – this is not where God wants me and will not demonstrate the real power of God.

So I wonder what the people upstream (around Zaretan v.16) were thinking when the waters rose up in a heap? Did God cause in avalanche in the hills upstream to dam up the water in his perfect timing (far enough ahead to synchronize when the priests with the Arc were to step in – and flow again as the priests came out)? Or was this more like the Red Sea where God simply held back the water Himself?

Are there any cool maps that might describe what could be happening upstream? How much water could have been stored up there? How high would the heap have by the time the last Israelite would cross?

This is exactly the lesson that God has been working on me with. This idea that comes to mind that fits the subject: Trust ME. Don't worry about things. Place them in MY hands and let me take care of it for you. Follow me, and do not hesitate to do as I guide you. I have such a hard head that it took many years to finally see the light. Our God is an awesome God!
